Paatu Cassette

Film music

Built for Tamil film music

Film albums are messy: many singers, a music director hidden in the tags, songs scattered across discs. Paatu Cassette understands them.

Why other players get film music wrong

Most players group albums by album artist and treat the first name in the artist tag as the artist. With film soundtracks that splits one movie into many albums, hides duet singers, and leaves the composer, the person you actually search for, nowhere to be found.

Paatu Cassette keeps a soundtrack together, splits artist tags on commas, semicolons, slashes, “&” and “feat.”, and gives music directors their own section, with the album artist used as a fallback because that’s how most Tamil soundtracks credit the composer.

Made for every playlist too

Nothing here gets in the way of other music. Western albums, devotional collections and Carnatic concerts all work just as well; the fallback can be switched off in Settings if your album artists are bands.

FAQ

Film music & music directors: questions

Where does the music director come from?

From the composer tag in your files. When a song has none, the album artist is used, which is how most Tamil soundtracks credit the music director. You can switch this off in Settings.
