Sound & surround
Use the equalizer and bass booster
Switch it on, pick a preset, save your own, and boost the bass.
Open the Sound page
Click the sliders icon (Sound) in the player bar, on the right. The page has the equalizer at the top, then Bass Booster, Echo & Space, Playback, Surround 5.1 and Receiver.
Switch the equalizer on
- Turn on the switch next to Equalizer at the top of the page, or press E anywhere in the app.
- Pick a preset: Flat, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Bass Boosted, Vocal, Electronic, Acoustic, Treble Boost or Loudness.
- Or drag the ten bands (32 Hz to 16 kHz) yourself, from −12 to +12 dB. The curve above shows the result.
Save your own preset
- Set the bands (and bass) the way you like.
- Click Save as Preset… or + Save current at the end of the presets.
- Name it and click Save. It appears with the other presets.
To delete one of your presets, click the small × on it. Built-in presets can’t be deleted.
Preamp
The Preamp slider on the left raises or lowers the overall level. You rarely need it: when you boost bands, Paatu Cassette lowers the level a little by itself, and a limiter catches any peaks so the sound never distorts.
Bass Booster
Under the equalizer, drag the Bass Booster slider or click Off, 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. 100% adds +12 dB below 80 Hz. The bass booster works together with the equalizer, so it’s only active while the equalizer is on.
