Clean up messy tags
Strip site names, web addresses and “128kbps” from your tags.
Songs downloaded over the years often carry junk in their tags: site names, “www…” addresses, “[128kbps]” or “320 Kb/s”. Tag cleanup removes it safely.
- Right-click a song, album or folder and choose Clean Up Tags… To clean everything, go to Settings › Tags & Music Directors and click Clean Up Tags… (Whole library).
- Paatu Cassette looks for site names, web addresses and bitrate labels.
- Check the preview: each change shows the old value struck through and the new one. Untick anything you want to keep as it is.
- Click Apply N changes.
What it removes
- Web addresses and domains (www…, http…, .com, .net, .in and similar)
- Names of well-known song download sites
- Bitrate labels such as “128kbps” or “320 Kb/s”, and the words VBR, CBR, HQ and “high quality”
- Leftover empty brackets, dangling dashes and double spaces
It cleans Title, Artist, Album, Album artist, Music director and Genre. It never empties a field and never touches the year or track numbers.
Add your own words
In Settings › Tags & Music Directors, type words or phrases into Your own words to remove (one per line), for example “Tamil Hits Collection”, and click Save words. They’re removed in every cleanup from then on.
