Getting started
Install Paatu Cassette on your Mac
Download the app, drag it into Applications and open it for the first time.
What you need
- A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later)
- macOS 11 Big Sur or later
- About 19 MB of free space for the app
- Your music: MP3, M4A/AAC, FLAC, WAV or AIFF files in a folder on your Mac or an external drive
Download and install
- Go to the download page and click Download for Mac.
- Open PaatuCassette_0.1.0_aarch64.dmg from your Downloads folder.
- In the window that opens, drag Paatu Cassette onto the Applications folder.
- Eject the disk image (drag it to the Trash in the Dock, or click the eject button next to it in Finder). You can delete the downloaded file afterwards.
Open it the first time
macOS checks every app downloaded from the internet. Until Paatu Cassette is notarized by Apple, macOS asks you to confirm that you want to open it. You only need to do this once.
macOS 15 Sequoia and later
- Open Paatu Cassette from Applications. macOS says it can’t verify the app. Click Done.
- Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
- Next to the message about Paatu Cassette, click Open Anyway, then confirm with your password or Touch ID.
- Click Open Anyway once more in the dialog. From now on the app opens normally.
macOS 14 Sonoma and earlier
- In Applications, Control-click (or right-click) Paatu Cassette and choose Open.
- Click Open in the dialog. From now on the app opens normally.
Updating to a new version
Download the new version and drag it into Applications, replacing the old one. Your library, playlists, ratings and sound settings are kept. See What’s new for release notes.
